My boss walked into my office and saw about 30 wall mounts from different manufacturers stacked up in my office for evaluation. I couldn’t get them stashed fast enough to avoid the ensuing dialog….
“Hey Rob, why don’t you write a blog post about mounts?”
“No way. They’re just mounts….”
So……… here I am blogging about mounts.
I mean, it’s not like people spend hours and hours every day hanging displays, where the right mount can cut installation time significantly. Aren’t all mounts pretty much the same? How much time can we really save with small differences like having packaging that is easier to open, stackable spacers, tool-less post installation leveling and lateral shift, and a bunch of other marketing gibberish?
Does adding keyhole slots to a wall bracket so one person can hold and hang a mount with one hand really make it that much easier? Maybe the small differences are nothing. Maybe they are something. But for all the time spent just keeping displays off the floor, maybe it’s worth looking at this three minute video.
By the way, the mounts are now all out of my office. Test and re-tested. And no… they are not all the same.
